English Country Dance is a particular kind of social dance that was practised in England, since the XVIIe century, mostly by the upper classes.  It is done in contra dance formation. A line of gentlemen facing a line of ladies, each couple going through a number of figures and movements in relation to the other couples.  The dances are easy and social, and therefore conducive to friendly conversation amoung participants.  It is the kind of dancing described in Jane Austen’s novels of which  Pride and Prejudice was put to screen recently.

The purpose of the weekend is to share a dance experience, more particularly, English country dancing.  Participant will embark on a journey to the past through music and dance, in an atmosphere of pleasure and simplicity.
